GETUnited is proud to have started programming in the United States in 2016. In the Spring of 2016, we collaborated with New York City Public School PS 209 in the Bronx serving first and second grade students. GET’s teaching artists brought our workshops to these wonderful young people, educating them through theatre, drama, music, art, and dance to explore curriculums around recycling and democracy. In the final presentations, seventy-five first graders shared theatre scenes with an audience of their families sharing the importance of recycling and keeping our oceans clean. The seventy-five second graders presented scenes on the changes they would like to see in their school, and then met with administrators to discuss how some of these changes might be implemented.

At the core of GET’s curriculum, both internationally and domestically, we work to build confidence, foster empathy, inspire boys to act as allies in the telling and caring about girls’ stories and experiences, nurture students, and create a stage from which they can be heard. Our GETUnited curriculum is collaborative, rooted in our partner school’s curriculum and always holds at its core Global Empowerment Theatre’s belief that each child has a voice and should have an opportunity to be heard by their families, communities, and the world. We are very excited for the beginning of GETUnited’s journey and that you are joining us!

We are currently looking for schools and other organizations to partner with in the New York City area.
