GETheatre is looking for Teaching Artists-in-Training for the 7th year of our annual GETIndia program, which will take place in early January 2017!

Some of our past in-country partners for this program include: The Parikrma Humanity Foundation (Bangalore), TEACH FOR INDIA (Pune) and The Akanksha Foundation (Mumbai).

Visit the GETIndia page on our website for more information on the history of this exciting program!

Teaching Artists-in-Training can expect to: work independently with small groups of students, lead large group activities, work one-on-one with students to improve writing skills, type up scripts, run errands, photograph or video tape workshops/performances and offer their enthusiasm to learn and jump in where ever help is needed. This is an incredible opportunity to gain practical experience working in a developing nation, while using theatre to explore identity, social justice issues, facilitate English literacy, and develop cross-cultural connections.

GET Team Expansion: We are expanding to include more teaching artists for our programs. Once you have joined us as a self-funded teaching artist-in-training, you will be added to our roster of funded teaching artists to be considered for future programs in New York City and abroad.

Costs: $6000 – includes roundtrip airfare from NYC, housing, transportation in country, orientation workshop in NYC, and administrative fees (supplies for project etc). GET organize all travel arrangements. College credit is also available.

Not included: Meals, visa, vaccinations, medications, insurance (travel and health) and optional excursions.

To Apply: Send a cover letter, resume and 20-minute activity that you would facilitate as part of a theatre devising workshop in India to info@getheatre.org.

Check out our website for more information on our work www.getheatre.org and on our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/GETheatre/

GETIn2016

All of this creates a fuss.
To sort it out a solution is a must.
Fine. We’ll do what society wants us to.
Depressed souls, what good will it do?
Doing what you love is the essence of life.
This is what will help the society to rise.
Cuz, doing what you love and loving what you do,
Is definitely a privilege for only a few.
This life is yours and no one else can rule.
Don’t just blindly follow society and be a fool.
Come out of your hole. Stop being mice.
Stand for your decision. Make your own choice!
